SeaTechnik is a world leading independent UK specialist
company, developing and manufacturing specialised measurement,
communications and safety systems for ships and other
marine installations. SeaTechnik was formed in 1999 by
engineers who had been developing marine electronic systems
since the mid 1980's. The pioneering Ship Performance
Optimisation System controlling propulsion for ferries
on fixed routes had saved operators 6-10% annually on
the cost of fuel.
SeaTechnik now provide electronic systems to all sectors
of the marine industry and specialise in systems required
by the rapidly developing liquid gas transportation industry.
SeaTechnik are acknowledged worldwide as experts in the
provision of Ship-Shore links (SSL), which incorporate
Emergency Shutdown and telephone/data communications between
LNG/LPG ships, and shore installations. Complying with
the stringent safety requirements for berthing at export/import
terminals and SIGTTO guidelines, these systems rationalise
the various connectors and communication protocols in
a single product assuring operators of worldwide compatibility.

Compatibility
between existing connectors and systems has been proven
in several independent tests. SSLs have been supplied
to a very large number of LNG terminals and LNGC's in
service. To suit the needs of the customer, SSLs include
additional sub-systems such as the Mooring Load Monitoring
System (MLM). The onboard system displays the data transmitted
from the shore monitoring system. Additional subsystems
include the special radio communications systems used
at various terminals. SeaTechnik designed adapter's, enable
connection between different types of Ship-Shore Link
systems. Our range of test equipment allows full functional
testing of systems to be implemented prior to vessel berthing.
The test equipment is fully compatible with other SSL
manufacturers. Due to our wealth of knowledge and experience,
SeaTechnik are also able to provide valuable consultancy
services to the industry in the area of SSL compatibility.
SeaTechnik have delivered over a hundred Precision Draught
Monitor Systems to various customers worldwide. Each system
was designed with flexibility in mind, thus ensuring several
measurement points and different configurations, to suit
special customer needs from Ferry/RoRo applications to
coastal cement carriers and floating installations. SeaTechnik
's new TSX-4 range of Shaft Power Meters are providing
power and thrust data on a wide range of ships. These
advanced digital instruments are suitable for the full
range of propellers employed on board ships. They are
designed for ease of installation and setting up, with
advanced diagnostics and displays and are probably the
most accurate instruments in the industry. Portable versions
of these instruments are used in sea trials by shipyards
and consultants.
SeaTechnik has designed and delivered several Ship Performance
Monitor Systems. On LNG gas carriers, an on-line Energy-Heat-Balance
module now provides steam plant and whole ship fuel optimising
within the standard Ship Performance Monitor System. This
enables the engineers on board to pinpoint inefficiencies
in propulsion steam plant and allows plant to be easily
returned to peak performance.
